Registration: Registration is open to all people. Cost of registration is $75.00 until April 1, 2017. From April 1 - April 30, 2017, cost of registration is $85.00. May 1 - June 2, 2017, cost of registration is $95.00. Online Registration closes on June 1, 2017. After June 1, 2017 you may register in person at the Pre-Race Pasta Dinner (see below).
All participants are required to sign a waiver. Participants under the age of 18 will need your parent's or guardian's signature on the waiver. We encourage you to register early. THERE WILL BE NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION. Registration is non-refundable.
Lodging: Both Coudersport and Galeton offer a variety of lodging options. Please go to www.visitpottercounty.com/places-to-stay for more information.
Packet Pickup Locations: There are two opportunities to receive your race packet. The first opportunity is Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Pre-Race Pasta Dinner. The second is at the starting line the morning of the race, beginning at 5:30 A.M. at the Galeton School. We encourage as many people as possible to pick up their packets at the Pre-Race Pasta Dinner.
Pre-Race Pasta Dinner: The God's Country Marathon Pre-Race Pasta Dinner is Friday, June 2, 2017. The dinner is from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the AMERICAN LEGION POST 192, 2 BUFFALO STREET/ROUTE 872, COUDERSPORT, PA 16915. Cost of dinner is $10.00/adult; $5.00 for children ages 3 - 12; free for 2 and under. Pre-Race Pasta Dinner is NOT included with registration. PLEASE send payment for the Pre-Race Pasta Dinner with your registration. We encourage you to attend, socialize, dine and last but not least: pick up your packet.
Race Day Parking: Ample free parking is located around the Coudersport Jr/Sr High School at the Finish Line and at the Start Line of the marathon at the Galeton High School.
Transportation: The morning of the race, a shuttle bus leaves from the finish line located at the Coudersport Jr/Sr High School at 5:30 A.M. and transports you to the starting line at the Galeton High School, arriving at approximately 6:00 A.M. There is a charge of $5.00 per person. Please pay this fee in advance with your registration if you plan to take the shuttle. Shuttle service is NOT available for Team Relay participants.
Personal Belongings - Storage and Retrieval: Marathon participants can leave their belongings with us at the start line in a car located in the front of the school. You can pick up your belongings at the finish line under the tent. Your belongings will be identified by race number.
The God's Country Marathon has been named one of the "10 toughest marathons" and one of the "best small marathons" in the United States by Runner's World Magazine. The course takes runners on a scenic, yet challenging journey, on Route 6 through the majestic Susquehannock State Forest, ending at the historic Coudersport Courthouse Square. The marathon begins at 7:00 A.M. at the Galeton Area High School. It is an open road, point to point course. The course begins at the Galeton Area School, 25 Bridge Street, Galeton, PA 16922. Each mile is marked with an official mile marker. The course will be marked with orange arrows painted on the pavement. We strongly encourage you to familiarize yourself with the course prior to the race. Click here for course maps and elevation chart.
Fluid Replacement: 20+ fluid replacement tables approximately every 1 mile and at the finish line.
Note: Water Station locations are coordinated based on the mile markers; some stations may not be located exactly at a mile marker due to available roadside space that allows our volunteers to stay safe.
"GU" Energy Gel: There will be "GU" stations at the 5-10-15-20-25 mile marks and at some other water stations along the way.
Port-a-potties: Port-a-potties will be at the starting line, 5-10-15-20.5 mile marks and at the finish line.
Medical Aid: Charles Cole Memorial Hospital provides the medical aid. Galeton and Coudersport Ambulance Companies will monitor the course.
Time Limits: There are no time limits for our course. If you are willing to try it, we'll be there for you at the Finish Line.
Awards: Cash prizes awarded to top 3 male and female finishers. The top 3 placers in each age division will also receive prizes. Awards Ceremony will be held at 1:30 PM at the Finish Line. Please note that all age division awards must be picked up before you leave - they cannot be mailed. |COURSE RECORD CHALLENGE:
$500 bonus cash prize for beating the Full Marathon Course Record. Men's record is 2:25:14 set in 1981 by Terry Stanley. Women's record 2:50:12 set in 2001 by Jacquie Merritt.
Medals: All finishers receive a custom diecast finisher's medal. The top 3 overall male and female finishers receive place medals.
Food and Beverages: Food and beverages will be available in the Runner Recovery Area at the Finish Line.
Post-Race Showers: Runners will have the opportunity to shower after the race at the Coudersport Jr/Sr High School.
Results: Official results will be available on the marathon website www.godscountrymarathon.com as soon as possible after the race.
Photos: Photos from the race will be posted on our website at www.godscountrymarathon.com approximately 2 weeks after the race.
Post-Race Party: Post Race party is to be determined at this current time. Details to follow
T-Shirts: Performance t-shirts will be provided to runners who register prior to April 30, 2017. You will receive a t-shirt when you pick up your race packet at the Pre-Race Pasta Dinner or on the morning of race day. We will do our best to provide t-shirts for those who register after April 30, 2017.
