Potter County is located in north central Pennsylvania, bordered by NY State to the north, in the heart of the Pennsylvania Wilds. We are within a day's drive of all major cities in the north east U.S., just 2 hours from Buffalo and Rochester, NY, and just 4 hours from Pittsburgh, Harrisburg and Lancaster, PA. 

Why is Potter County called "God's Country?"  After just one visit, you'll know why. With over a million acres of pristine wilderness, 8 state parks and nearly half of its land designated as state forest and game lands, Potter County is a haven for those looking to relax and unwind, get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and reconnect with nature.  It's also home to the darkest skies and brightest stars in the eastern United States.  In fact, the Travel Channel recently named Potter County's Cherry Springs State Park as the best place on Earth to go stargazing.

What is the weather like in Potter County?  Potter County is lucky to have the best of all four seasons.  In the winter, we enjoy moderate snowfall, comparable to Great Lakes destinations.  Spring brings seasonal temperatures, with rain and sun, and our forests and mountains turn green as they come alive.  Summer brings warm days, with highs in the 70's and 80's, and cool evenings.  And in the fall, our temperatures begin to cool and our mountains turn vibrant shades of orange, red and yellow as fall foliage sets in.  It's a beautiful time of year.
